Join us for “Exploring Economics: From Classroom to Career,” a free, one-day conference for undergraduate students interested in exploring a career in economics. Participants will discover how to use their courses and experiences to explore their interests and guide their career path. If you are interested in a field where economics plays a role, this conference will offer useful insights into how to transition from academic life to a thriving career in economics.
This year’s conference will feature keynote speaker Catherine Eckel, the Sara and John Lindsey Professor in the Liberal Arts and University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Economics at Texas A&M University, who is a researcher in the field of behavioral and experimental economics. The event will also feature economics professionals working in a variety of focus areas, including Richmond Fed researchers, and experts from both international organizations and local public policy institutions.
The Exploring Economics Conference is hosted by the Richmond Fed in partnership with the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond and the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Students will have the opportunity to:
- Network with professionals working in the field of economics and gain insight into potential career opportunities.
- Hear about some of the exciting work being done by economists today.
- Learn about opportunities for undergraduate students and early career talent at the Richmond Fed.
- Connect with other students from universities who are interested in pursuing a degree in economics.
- Work on their own plan for next career steps based on the speakers’ insights.
The conference is free, but registration is required. Capacity is limited, so please register early. Lunch and snacks will be provided!
You may attend virtually to experience the first two conference sessions --- the keynote address and the panel discussion.
