Description of each track:
DevSecOps/Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery in a Weapon System Environment
How has your team implemented DevSecOps for your project? If so, can you describe how you've implemented it? Are you able to continuously deliver or deploy your software? Can your implementation handle embedded software?
What challenges did you face while working across the IT, Cyber, integration, developer, and the customer when implementing DevSecOps in your organization? What type of training and/or collaboration took place to overcome working across those groups?
How do you handle the approval of new software packages needed for software development?
Lastly, do you have any metrics that show the efficiencies gained or customer satisfaction improvements resulting from your DevSecOps implementation?
Software Assurance
What novel approaches has your organization implemented to ensure weapon systems software performs safely and securely? How do you know your software is more secure today than in the past? What tools are you using to help ensure more robust software? How are you ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your software development environment?
Configuration Management in Agile Projects
How are Configuration Management (CM) activities integrated into the development pipeline? Does your CM team report to a different chain of command to allow them independent confirmation of software versions? What obstacles were required to integrate the CM role into your development pipeline? What tools, training and cultural changes were required to integrate the CM role?
Improved Deployment of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning through Low-Code/No-Code Technologies
Has your organization applied low-code/no-code technologies to AI/ML applications in your weapon systems software? What tools or software did you use? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them? Would you do this again? Would you recommend this approach to others? If so what advice would you give based on your experience?
Use of Application Programming Interfaces to Improve Interoperability and Increase Deployment Speed-TBD
Has your organization used APIs in your deployment of software in your weapon system? How has it improved interoperability? What unique characteristics does your API have? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them? How do your APIs ensure system security? How did you define and establish API governance? Were existing commercial approaches/standards acceptable? How is API stability and performance monitored?
Weapon Systems Software Development on the Cloud
How has your team transitioned from on-prem to on-cloud development environments ensuring the security of the development pipeline, training personnel, managing cloud costs, managing expectations of customers and leaders? What obstacles have you overcome?
Modernization of Legacy Systems
How has your team refactored weapon systems software? What were the compelling justifications for the investment? What obstacles did you overcome related to funding, tools, training, cultural changes, or others? How has your team integrated new software development practices into your development environment? What benefits have you observed? What challenges have you overcome?
Other
Has your weapon system software development team solved problems that don’t fit into one of the topics listed that you would like to share with the defense software community? Describe the problem(s) solved, tools used, training required, leadership buy-in needed, cultural changes needed, or any other obstacles overcome in solving the problems. What lessons did you learn that you would recommend to others on the same journey?
