Telecommunications consumers frequently experience degraded service, yet compensation mechanisms remain largely manual, inconsistent, or reactive. Advances in machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and network performance monitoring now enable automated approaches to identifying service degradation and triggering fair, timely compensation. This presentation explores how an automated telecommunications consumer compensation system could be designed and implemented using ML and AI driven quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) metrics. Drawing on current industry practices and regulatory considerations, the session will examine why such systems are increasingly feasible, how they could operate in practice, and how they may incentivise carriers to improve reliability and service delivery across the Australian telecommunications market.
